The existing boundary was removed and the level change between the gardens was handled with a sweeping natural stone staircase, bridging around 1.6 metres of height in a way that feels elegant rather than engineered. It gave the garden a stronger sense of journey, drawing you up through the planting and towards the terrace above.
The brief also called for somewhere relaxed and sun-filled, reminiscent of holidays in Tuscany, but with a cleaner, more contemporary edge. We answered that with a warm, simple palette of sawn sandstone, organic lines and carefully restrained detailing, softened by deep Mediterranean-style borders.
Silver foliage, grasses, salvia, Erigeron, jasmine and drought-tolerant planting bring texture, scent and movement throughout the scheme. The result is a garden that feels easy and informal, yet quietly sophisticated, with a natural flow between house, terrace, lawn and neighbouring garden.
